In a world where the media can often create human division and widespread confusion, our perceptions of real life and this world we live in can become irrevocably distorted. With this unfortunate consequence to what has become global agitprop, it is important to bring our concerns closer to home and reflect upon how we are interacting in and impacting on our local communities. Download our top community based charity events and start to make a difference.

If you want to see change, it has to come from the grassroots.

As individuals, we can often feel like we are drowning in information overload and chaos, feeling overwhelmed and helpless by the world issues we face. We have every good intention to positively contribute to change, but when that change is so big, we are inclined to retreat and suffer the pitfalls of either inertia or worse, apathy. As individuals, this is when we need to stop and think about what we are actually capable of contributing. It doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to be significant. This comes down to our personal levels of care and concern, our priorities and the habits we form on a daily basis to create change for the better. As individuals, living consciously and purposefully will have a greater impact on our world, than many of us even care to realise.

Now imagine the impact on our world if corporations chose to prioritise social responsibility ahead of money and power.

We have all seen the sometimes devastating effects of the latter, but an ethical business that takes in to account their social, economic and environmental impact, as well as consideration of human rights is a business that is leading the way for a brighter future for our children and our children’s children.

Actions speak louder than words and if one person alone can create great change, imagine what a whole corporation can achieve.

Companies that put their energies in to local community partnerships and fostering employee and customer relationships realise that the return on investment is not all about the bottom line. They understand their accountability in protecting and sustaining our environment and making socially responsible investments. They acknowledge that you cannot choose between growth and sustainability. The focus must be on both.

The bigger picture stuff

When we look at the bigger picture and how we all fit in to it, we realise that although we are mere dots, it is all the dots together that make up the beautiful masterpiece of life. We are not all separate from each other as the media at times will have us believe, therefore we cannot afford to be apathetic about our societal responsibilities. Even the smallest contribution of a smile to a passing stranger positively impacts our world, so when corporations are a driving force behind positive social change, the snow ball effect is exponential! So why not be a part of that rolling snowball.
